If this type of vacation appeals to you, then please consider renting a week or more at our holiday cottage on the beach in beautiful Cayman Brac. All of the photos above were taken either from the cottage itself, the beach or the clear blue sea surrounding the island.
The cottage is a 1200 square-foot single-storey house constructed on the north beach of the island's West End. It has two double bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. There are air conditioning units in each bedroom and fans throughout the rest of the house. It has a fully-equipped kitchen and comfortable great room with a beautiful view of the ocean. The private beach outside the back of the cottage leads straight down to some great snorkelling and scuba diving areas, where the photos above were taken.

The airport at Cayman Brac has with a relatively large runway, which allows Cayman Airways to fly a 737 jet to and from Grand Cayman almost every day. Island Air also operates a service from Grand Cayman and to Little Cayman, albeit with smaller aircraft. It is around 90 miles from Grand Cayman to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, which makes for a very short flight from the big island. There is no ferry service.
All visitors to the Cayman Islands arrive in Grand Cayman, where immigration and customs checks will be made. If you are travelling from the USA, try to get a non-stop flight to Grand Cayman. American Airlines, Cayman Airways, Continental, Delta, Northwest Airlines and US Airways all operate regular service into Grand Cayman. British Airways operates a service from London (via the Bahamas) several times a week.
Sunset cottage is located on the island of Cayman Brac in the Cayman Islands. Cayman Brac is located approximately 90 miles northeast of Grand Cayman, which is itself located 150 miles due south of Cuba and just 480 miles south of Miami. Cayman Brac is around twelve miles long and one mile wide and has a population of approximately 1800 people.
Visas are not required for entry into the Cayman Islands for US or UK citizens. A passport is recommended, however.
If you are planning on renting Sunset Cottage, it is a good idea to bring a large empty cooler with you. If you schedule your flights to give you a few hours free in Grand Cayman you can use the time to purchase basic groceries from the Fosters Food Fair supermarket near the airport. You can then use the cooler (and a bag of ice) to transport the groceries to the cottage. Airport staff are very used to seeing coolers arriving from Grand Cayman, although they may ask to see inside the cooler when you check-in. Bringing a cooler full of meat and fish to the cottage is very useful because the food in the grocery stores on Cayman Brac is generally only shipped in once a week and is almost always frozen.
